The Cleveland Indians were looking for win number six as they sent Derek Lowe to the mound in Detroit. Lowe had a rough start as he gave up 4 runs in the first inning. Lowe had only one poor showing this season in a Indians uniform before this start. The Tigers took advantage of a couple of bad pitches and made Lowe pay for a sinker that stayed up over the plate. Derek Lowe would then look like he got it under control until the forth inning when the Tigers rocked Lowe for another three runs. The Tiger were leading the Indians after four 7-1.
The Never say die Indians offense would mount an attack trying to get the Indians their second sweep over the Tigers in just a couple of weeks. The Indians would score two runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to make it a game. It looked like the Indians were going to make a comeback they even loaded the base before Valverde was able to work his way out of the jam.
The Indians would take five out of six from the Tigers when it was all said and done. If someone would have said at the onset of the season the Indians would take five from the Tigers before the All-Star break, I am not sure people would have believed it. Derek Lowe now falls to 7-4 on the season and the Indians travel to St. Louis for the start of some inter-league play. The Indians are going to have their hands full for the next few days that is for sure.
