The Cleveland Indians, have taken their second game from the Seattle Mariners thanks to the walk off 11th inning hit from Carlos Santana this afternoon. The Indian won the game 6-5 after the Mariners took the lead from the Indians in the top of the 11th inning. The Indians came back to tie the game at 5 when Asdrubal Cabrera drove in a run with a single to right field.
The Cleveland Indians would use seven pitches in the game this afternoon. Zach McAllister got the start and had a tough go of it today giving up four runs on 3 hits and he walked five batters. Jairo Asencio came in the game for just a third of an inning and gave up one hit before Manny Acta pulled him in favor of Nick Hagadone.
Hagadone didn’t have his best stuff and he would pitch for one and a third giving up a hit with two strike outs. Jeremy Accardo would pitch 2/3 of an inning and he stuck out one before Acta made the call to Tony Sipp. Playing baseball in the afternoon must fit Sipp’s eye, he came in and struck out two. Acta would pick up the phone and make the call to Chris Perez who came into the game struck out one, walked one and gave up a hit.
Manny Acta would make another call to bring in Joe Smith who would ultimately get the win today. Smith kind of came in through the side door with the win after he gave up two hits, one run and striking one out.
The Cleveland Indians now move to 22-16, four games over the Tigers and are on a four game winning streak.
