After missing the 2016 post season, Carlos Carrasco returned to the mound for the Cleveland Indians in Arlington, Texas last night, and he looked pretty darn good. He pitched 5-2/3rd innings for the Tribe, striking out 7.
Carrasco walked only one batter, he gave up one home-run and he and his Cleveland Indians team mates recorded their second win on the season, beating the Texas Rangers by a score of 4-3 last night.
The Indians got on board early in this game, when Carlos Santana hit a home-run to right-center field. It was 1-0 in the first. Then the Tribe scored another run in the second, off of a Austin Jackson single to center-field that scored Guyer.
The Indians weren't done yet, Santana picked up another R.B.I., when he singled to center that scored Gomes. After two-innings it was the Cleveland Indians 3 and the Texas Rangers 0.
It always helps the starting pitcher, when your team puts runs on the board early, and that's exactly what this Indians team did last night.
The Rangers tried to fight back, and they picked up a couple of runs in the second off of a Gallo homer to right that scored Rua. But the Indians continued to play solid baseball, and they were able to pick up run number 4 in the 7th off of a Michael Brantley single to left-center.
It's great to see Dr. Smooth back and contributing to the Cleveland Indians offense. Brantley is one of those players that always makes a solid contribution when he is in the line-up.
The Tribe will look for the sweep tonight when they take on the Texas Rangers in game-3. Game time is 8:05pm.
