Brandon Weeden SucksThe Browns managed to beat the Detroit Lion 19-17, it wasn’t because of the job Browns 28-year-old rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden did. Pure and simple to sum up Weeden in a word, He Sucked, yes Brandon Weeden looked bad and he Sucked. For the Cleveland Browns and Pat Shurmur to even consider making Weeden the starting Quarterback in Cleveland I would suggest the NFL drug test Shurmur and the Browns front office. Weeden look terrible, he looks like a guy that is going to pee his pants when the defense in getting close to him, he has no pocket presence and he has no calm under pressure. Weeden looked bad and if no one has the balls to speak the truth about this guy shame on them. Weeden threw a lot of incomplete passes, then he threw an interception too. If the Browns think Brandon Weeden is the guy to get it done they are sadly mistaken. Weeden is what you get when you take a 28-year-old guy who had some success in College because he had the beast offensive line in College. Wake up people this guy is not the answer, he isn’t even close to it. When the real season starts look for this guy to get killed or throw a ton of interceptions. Do not let this Browns win blind your focus this win had nothing at all to do with Brandon Weeden.

The Browns then put in Colt McCoy, did he look better than Weeden? Yes he did. Considering McCoy had no first team players in the game and he was able to move the football throwing for 88 yards and almost doubling Mr. Incomplete pass Brandon Weedens average, you’re damn right he looked better. The funny thing is the Brown Sucked tonight. If the team has taken on a new look it may be the Pat Shurmur look. Did you see Shurmur when the game was over? He looked like a guy that didn’t even believe his team won the game. Are you kidding me? This is the guy Mr. Football Guru Mike Holmgren hired to run the Cleveland Browns.  It is now wonder the team went 4-12 last year. These guys are all nuts, they couldn’t coach their way out of a paper bag. Once Haslam come to take control of the Cleveland Browns, he will see through this garbage Randy Learner paid a bout load of money to and these guys will be out of here. There is no way this team is going to be able to compete in the NFL North playing the way we saw them tonight.

For those of you who think Brandon Weeden is the next star NFL quarterback, I urge you to take a look at his numbers. The guy went 3 for 9 for 62 yards and 1 interception. The only smart thing Pat Shurmur did tonight was to take this sorry excuse for a quarterback out of the game before he embarrassed himself, Pat Shurmur and the Browns even further.  Don’t be stupid Cleveland, the Browns played ugly football with their starters. Sure the Browns won the game, McCoy and Lewis both had almost double the passing average of Weeden and Wallace is the only Browns Quarterback to have a touchdown.

If you think Weeden is the future of the Cleveland, you are sadly mistaken. Sure the guy threw one good pass. The Browns need a guy who can throw a good pass at least 70% of the time not just one of his three completions,Weeden isn’t going to get it done for the Browns. Sorry if you don’t like the honesty people. The Browns sucked and it isn’t going to get any better with Pat Shurmur as the Browns head coach. Think about who they beat tonight. A bunch of guys who won’t even be there come opening day….

The first thing Jimmy Haslam needs to do is bring i a bus and get these sorry asses they call the front office and head coach the hell out of Cleveland. Now I really Think Pat Shurmur is hearing the foot-steps the foot steps of Jimmy Haslam coming down to kick his but out of Berea….

LG I’m surprised at you, man. You made all these judgemental statements about Weedon after 2, count ‘em TWO series of downs on a rookie’s very first taste of playing in the NFL. C’mon, man! I think he was a bit scared out there. That will wear off. Oh…by the way… did you HAPPEN to notice that perfectly long pass to Benjamin he threw? Guess not.
This was really disturbing to read. Shame on you

    • LG

Bob, he has done the same thing through much of the training camp. Weeden has a record in College of throwing the ball into places he shouldn’t have thrown it. If they would have left him in longer he would have had more interceptions. The team played very sloppy football last night. They looked terrible. Look at the amount of penalties they had. Shurmur looks totally out of place and his play calling still leaves little to be desired. We are in for a long season Bob…..Weeden is not the answer, yes I saw the long pass, every once in a while I am sure he can do it we need a team that looks like a finally tuned football team. Not a team that looks lost out there. We have a tough division to play this season three out of the four teams made the play offs and we have to play them this year. Doesn’t much matter what we see running the Browns now, when Jimmy Haslam takes over he will build us a winner…..

Aren’t you rushing to judgment after 3 series of the first game of the preseason for a rookie? I’ll freely admit that I have a bias toward Weeden, but believe me, he had plenty of pocket presence in college (23-3 record and a Big 12 championship). I realize that college ball is not the NFL, but it seems to me that rushing to judgment on almost any NFL rookie after less than one quarter of action in the first preseason game is a bit hasty.

  3. D. Calhoun

The only differance between last year and this year is that Shumer will need to order a bigger bodybag for weeden. I have said all along Weeden aint the answer

  4. luke

After one whole quarter you’re going to say that he shouldn’t be the Browns QB? One whole freaking quarter. Really man!! First of all did you look on how crappy our O line blocked last night? We have know O line at all. I believe Colt struggled last year because of our o line. It is not our qb’s fault at all. When Weeden had some time he did good

    • LG

Luke you are right, we have a major problem again with our O’Line. But Weeden has a habit of throwing Int’s in practice too. The Browns picked the wrong Q.B. look at Tannehill, this is the guy we should have taken if we were really going to get a guy to make a difference

  5. breal

Who are you to bash the Browns?
    Your not playing the game.
Be quiet and let them fail on their own, and when they succeed, you can eat crow.

    • LG

I would be more than Happy to Eat Crow as you say. I truly hope I am wrong….Cleveland Needs a winner….

  6. Joe Smith

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. It looks like LG hit the nail on the head. The Browns made a bad pick in Weeden and they will not become winners with Shurmur as the head coach. It’s very fortunate Jimmy Haslam is buying the Browns, you people in Cleveland will finally get an owner who wants to win and he wants to win it all.

Even though it is the first pre-season game, this is the Brandon Weeden you guys are stuck with. He won’t do will under pressure. I watched him in College lots and when he faced pressure he usually had problems….Good Luck Cleveland. Your Browns will turn it around once Haslam takes over. It will be out with the old (Losers) and in with the new. (Winners)

    • Tony

Really? I guess Weeden must have only felt pressure in three games of the games he played in college, because that was the number of games he lost in two years of starting at qb. I have said earlier, it’s too soon to predict what kind of qb he is going to be in the NFL. By the way, if the Browns OL can’t protect him, it wouldn’t matter if you had Peyton Manning. Trust me, Weeden will through an interception every once in a while, but the good ones will be aggressiveat times (Brett Favre). Sometimes that will burn you, but I would rather have that, than someone too timid to be effective.

      • LG

You are right Tony, the Browns offensive line needs to be able to protect who ever is back there. This is the NFL not College. Sure Weeden won a lot of games in College, so did Colt McCoy. Look what the NFL has done to Colt….I really wish Brandon Weeden the very best of luck. Nobody wants to see winning football in Cleveland More Than I do. The problem is I don’t think the Browns looked good at all last night and they played one heck of a sloppy game. Sure they won but Detroit didn’t have anyone in that could stop it from happening….

  7. BuckeyesRus

Weeden may actually be a better QB than McCoy in the future, but right now, McCoy is the better man and with the first team will win some games. Let BW be eased into the situation by playing mop up in games and gaining some confidence before starting him midway through the season. Your doing the same thing to him that you did to Couch and look what happened to him! Get real! You should have traded for Tebow if you’re going to throw him to the wolves. At least he has help from a higher Power!

    • LG

BuckeyesRus, finally a reply that makes total sense, not that none of the others have. I have been saying all along Weeden shouldn’t be thrown into the NFL before he is ready. And yes it is the same thing they did to Tim Couch….Even Bernie Kosar had time to make the transition from College to the NFL and had guys helping him do it. Just lie last night who did you see helping BW on the side lines? Colt McCoy sure not Seneca Wallace. If Wallace were a team player and helped McCoy last season maybe the Browns could of won more games. 3,000,000 a year they pay Wallace and you didn’t even see the guy try to help BW last night…..SMH

Thanks for not posting my comment. I see you can’t take criticism, you must not feel very strongly about your opinions if you aren’t willing to defend them. Keep approving only comments that agree with you, that’s a great way to expand readership.

I am not familiar with what you are talking about. If people make a reply I generally do post them.Sorry if you feel slighted….

        • LG

You not only don’t know medical Rick, you must be blind too. I see at least three of your replies posted…..You’ll be one of the first people bitching win the Browns go 3-13 the team looked very sloppy Friday they have got to tighten this up and fast…..

  9. Tom Wynne

you cite the Oklahoma State O line as being the world’s best…you do know that the Browns DO HAVE 2 pro-bowlers on their o line??? Great that you can judge a guy who has played 3 series total in his pro career…

  10. Shawn Scott

The OL is what the topic should be how many QB do we have to go through to figure that out.not to mention coaching. What we seen last nite look all to familure to what we’ve been seein the past few yrs and its gettin old. Let’s just hope Halsam is the man to clean this up!!!!! GO BROWNS

  11. Red12

1st NFL game, porous OL ( Schwartz rookie mistakes)
Weedon looked far from scared !
In fact he seemed to be oblivious to all the lions around him.
Was a shame that Momass was injured again
as he has the skill to be effective this year.
2012 will be a great campaign far from the
Factory of woe that was 2011.
Yes I laughed out loud when Shurmur asked
People around him…. Did we just win the game?
That was funny. As for Thad Lewis, he seems to be
The real deal…”fight, fight, fight” and he had the touch
And power to deliver. Also wasn’t scared to take
    a hit for 1st down.

  12. Joel McClurg

I think LG is a little to strong on his criticism, but he’s got it mostly right. If you watched the Indy vs St Louis game on Sunday night, you saw a real franchise quarterback! It was his first game as well, but he was poised, fast , strong and accurate; two TDs passing and a bomb that ended up at the one. They scored the next play. They were supposed to be bad and to have a long rebuild; not with Luck!; they got them a QB!

  13. Rick

    • LG

Hey are you nuts Rick? Look at the day Andrew Luck had in his first rookie game. That my friend is a Franchise Quarterback….Weeden is a budget player….Figures the Cleveland Browns took him just for pay roll reason. Once Haslam takes over things will change….
