Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III is seeing his employees plead guilty to fraud charges. Haslam III has now watched 7 of his high-ranking employees at Pilot Flying J plead guilty to charges of fraud.
Yesterday in a federal court in Knoxville Regional Sales Manager Michael Scott Fenwick pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. Regional Account Representative Janet Welch also pleaded guilty to a mail fraud conspiracy charge.
This brings the total to 7. Could these 7 people be cutting a deal to testify against Haslam III who continues to say he knew nothing about the scam is watching and doing nothing while his employees plead guilty to federal charges.
Some could say Haslam III is throwing these people to the wolves. You have to wonder if this behavior on his part is going to come back to haunt him. There is nothing worse than giving your all to a company to find out when the Sh&% hits the fan, you are left holding the bag.
Is Haslam the kind of guy who would do anything to avoid telling the truth? Only time will tell. The feds did take his computer the day they raided his office at his company's headquarters. What the contents of his computer were is still a mystery.
If there were emails or other documents on his computer that could tie him into the conspiracy, it will come out sooner or later. For now Haslam has to worry about his 7 employees that plead guilty. Some of them could be cutting a deal to testify against the billionaire and that has to be keeping him up at night.
