Good news for Browns fans, Scott Fujita will be on the field Sunday when the Browns open their 2012 season against the Eagles. The suspensions have been over-turned for now by an appeals court according to the latest reports. Fujita was going to be suspended for the opener due to his alleged participation in the New Orleans bounty gate scandal. I guess we can chalk one up for the players and mark a loss for Roger Goodell.
The Browns who are ready short handed at line-backer have to be glad Fujita will be playing. A three-person appeals panel has overturned the Bountygate suspensions that would cost Fujita three games. the league reinstated all 3 players who were facing a suspension a few minutes later. The panel's decision affects the players only, not suspended coaches Gregg Williams, Sean Payton and Joe Vitt. The panel did not overrule Goodell, but asked for clarification on the reasons for his discipline -- was it salary-cap related or conduct detrimental -- according to league sources.
