I am and have been a Weeden supporter from the day he was drafted. No sense getting into the weeds over last year and arguing about whether or not he will ever live up to our first round draft expectations of him but here at my observation based on this year.
-Through the first 2 preseason games it would be hard to find fault with his performance(even though LG always finds a dark cloud on a sunny day). Weeden excelled in every aspect (rating, completion, touch, no interceptions, decisive).
-Against the Colts he looked indecisive at times, had trouble finding open recievers, was under heavy pressure and generally struggled..but so did his receivers in getting open, making catches.
So…with 2 very good games and one poor performance (and not just Weeden but the whole offense) I am not willing to cave in and declare his being named a starter a bad decision. I also saw nothing out of the other QB’s behind Weeden that leads me to believe they are better choices.

My advice..don’t panic on offense and remember, it’s not all about Weeden. The Browns defense was picked apart by Luck and their running game, a supposed weakness, looked all pro. I would also be willing to place a sizeable bet that Trent Richardson doesn’t last the season. He has already proven to be at risk from injury, was a higher draft choice than Weeden yet somehow is given a pass from the Brown’s faithful and sports writers.

Still a Browns fan and hopeful for a great year…the signs are good but if anyone thinks there aren’t speedbumps ahead, think again.

The defense is a major concern. The pass coverage of the line backers was non existent….
