The Indians offense picked the wrong night to take off, Carlos Carrasco pitched the best game in his major leg career. He worked 7-1/3 innings giving up just 1 run and 4 hits. He struck out 4 and walked only 1 batter.
This was a more mature Carrasco we saw in the game against the Kansas City Royals. When Carrasco got into trouble he was able to work his way out of it. Carlos Carrasco would see his great effort go to waste. The Indians would hold the Royals scoreless until the 8th inning.
Carrasco would be charged with an earned run but it would be Indians reliever Bryan Shaw that would get tagged with the loss in this game. The Indians were involved in a pitching dual. The Royals only gave up 1 run to the Indians that came off of a Carlos Santana home run in the 6th inning.
The Tribe had chances to blow this game wide open, they had the bases loaded in the 4th and could get the runs across the plate. Royals pitcher James Shields did a good job shutting down the Indians offense and the Tribe would not only lose the game they would fall back into 3rd place in the A.L. Central now a 1/2 behind the Royals and 5-1/2 games out of first place.
It was a great effort by Carrasco and it shows he is learning how to be patient and become a major league pitcher. If only the Indians offense would have found a couple of more runs in the game last night.
