The Cleveland Indians have completed the sweep over the Texas Rangers, to get off to a fantastic start on the 2017 MLB season. The Tribe was down by 2-runs when they entered the 9th inning in Arlington, Texas last night.
Cleveland would score 5-runs in the 9th inning, 4 of those runs coming off the bat of their star short-stop Francisco Lindor, who hit a grand slam to help the Indians score 5 runs in the 9th and pick up their 3rd win in as many days over the Texas Rangers.
Danny Salazar started the game for the Indians. He pitched for 5-2/3rd innings, giving up 5 hits, 5 runs, 4 of them earned runs, He walked 4 batters and struck out 9. Indians relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong would pick up the win last night.
You just have to love this Indians team. You can not count these guys out. They battle to the end and have won two games already this season in the 9th inning. Winning 3-games to start the season on the road is huge.
The Indians will have the day off, then they will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Josh Tomlin will get the start for Cleveland and Shelby Miller will start for Arizona. If the Indians can continue their hot play in Arizona, who knows how many game lead they can build in the American League Central this season.
The Indians are the only team in the central, that has played 3-games thus far this season. The Twins
have only played 2 and they won both. Cleveland will be in Arizona through the weekend, then back to Cleveland to have their home opener against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday April 11th.
You can bet Progressive field will be rocking come Tuesday folks.
