The Cleveland Indians were in a marathon last night at Progressive. With a two hour rain delay which would see Masterson leave the game and the Indians Bullpen taking over, the Indians players seemed to know just what was at stake. The Tribe would not be denied a victory. The Bullpen was used early, Chad Durban came in in the third inning and pitched three great innings of baseball, the most in his career as an Indians perhaps. Masterson didn't look like the Mastserson we all came to know last night. He got in trouble in the second and had two runs score to tie the game before the tarp came out for almost two hours. When things resumed both the Tigers and the Indians would go to their bullpens.
The Indians would use Durban, R.Perez, Pestano, Smith and Chris Perez. It would be Indians reliever Frank Herrmann being tagged with the win at 1:52 am this morning. This win should be split between the 6 pitches who did a great job keeping Detroit at bay for 12 innings last night. This was an important victory in the American League Central race allowing the Cleveland Indians to gain one full game against the Detroit Tigers last night or this morning.
However you slice it the Indians won the game 3-2 and they play the Tigers again tonight. Lest hope the Indians can send those Tigers back to Detroit with a good sweeping this week. One down Two more to go..... The Indinas had their 13th walk off win at home when Fukudome was hit by a pitch with bases loaded and one out in the 14th inning last night.
